DESMOND CLARK RECIPIENT OF PRESTIGIOUS RICKY BYRDSONG AWARD

(CHICAGO) (WLS) - Some of Chicago's outstanding fathers were honored Tuesday by the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative. IFI exists to encourage men to be responsible dads or positive male role models for children.

In addition to two Chicago pastors who were honored, the annual Ricky Byrdsong Award was given to former Chicago Bear Desmond Clark.

Clark has been a mentor for kids and he runs football camps for low-income children. The award is named after Ricky Byrdsong, the late Northwestern University basketball coach who was killed in a hate crime.

Ricky's daughter Kelley was there to hand out the awards.

ABC7'S Alan Krashesky served as emcee.
